The Apparitions of Our Lady transformed the town of Fátima into one of the greatest centers of Marian worship in the world. The pilgrimages of the devotees take place on May 13 (Candles Procession, on the 12th at night and the Farewell Procession, on the 13th, which ends the celebrations) and on October 13, which correspond to the first and sixth apparitions. Visit to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fátima which evokes the apparitions of Our Lady to the three little shepherds Lúcia, Francisco and Jacinta, which took place in 1917 and certified in 1930. The site of the apparitions, Cova da Iria, which belonged to Lúcia's parents, was donated to the sanctuary, it was here that the first apparition took place.
The Sanctuary includes the Basilica, the Prayer Room, the Chapel of the Apparitions, the Church of the Holy Trinity, and the Pyre where candles are placed in a gesture of blessing. There is still time for Aljustrel, the village where the little shepherds were born, and a visit to the houses, as well as a moment of prayer in Valinhos, site of the fourth apparition of Our Lady to the Little Shepherds.
We will also visit the places where the angel appeared in 1916 (Loca do Anjo and Poço Arneiro).
